FAQ Partnerships

Do I need a formal agreement before referring a client?

No. The first referral does not require a formal agreement. A referral fee acknowledgment is created when a referral closes. For ongoing or structured partnership arrangements, a simple partner agreement is used.

The simplest answer is: you can make a referral today without signing anything. Most referral partnerships start with a single introduction. The paperwork follows the result, not the other way around.

For a single referral

If you have a specific client you want to introduce, make the introduction. When the engagement closes, Fulcrum issues a referral fee acknowledgment that confirms the amount, the basis, and the payment terms. You review it, confirm it, and receive payment.

For ongoing referral relationships

If you anticipate referring multiple clients over time, a simple partner agreement is useful to have in place. It documents the fee structure, attribution rules, and payment process so there is no ambiguity as more referrals accumulate. Most ongoing partners sign one after their first referral closes.

For co-delivery arrangements

Co-delivery requires a formal engagement agreement. The structure involves defined scopes, billing arrangements, and coordination responsibilities. That needs to be documented before the engagement begins, for your protection and the client's clarity.

If you are ready to make an introduction, start a conversation with Fulcrum. No prior agreement needed.
